FESCO is offering electricity services to 8 districts in Pakistan, including Faisalabad. It has more than 5.6 million customers. However, FESCO uses a paper billing system for the charges of electricity distribution. In this method, all FESCO consumers receive a paper bill each month at their doorstep.

However, you should know how this billing system works as an active FESCO user. I have explained the complete process of the FESCO billing system in this article.

How Does the FESCO Billing System Work?

How Does the FESCO Billing System Work

FESCO stands for Faisalabad Electric Supply Company. It is one of the leading electricity suppliers in Pakistan. According to the report of 2022, FESCO has earned more than USD 2.7 billion as an electricity supplier.

So let’s find out how this big company’s billing system works and what the steps of billing are.

Step 1: Meter Reading (Manual)

The first step starts with the manual readings of all the FESCO meters. You should know that reading the meters manually is a hectic and big task. There are more than 5.6 million customers, so FESCO has to read more than 5.6 million meters each month.

A FESCO employee goes door to door and takes a picture of each meter with his phone. This picture is used to check the meter reading and units.

Step 2: Data Entry at FESCO’s System Online

Now, once FESCO has all the meter reading pictures, the staff at the FESCO office starts to input these details into each consumer’s account. Now the system will check the previous readings of these consumers and then subtract the current one to find out the current consumed units.

Step 3: Bill Generation

After the counting of the consumed units, the system will start adding the taxes and other FESCO charges, like FPA, to the consumer’s bill. This process is automated, and it does not require any manual entry.

Step 4: Printing of a Bill

This is the phase where FESCO starts to print these bills on paper. Each consumer’s bill is printed on paper and then remains ready to deliver.

Step 4: Bill Delivery

The last step is to deliver the bills to the consumers who belong to them. Now, a FESCO employee picks up all the bills of a specific area and then starts to distribute them by visiting each home.

What If You Don’t Receive Your FESCO Bill Physically?
